The thing with pacing is that it helps me streamline all my thoughts that keep hovering all over the place and stud them together in a neat row.
Like I'll start walking thinking of all the different timelines and days and dates and what's happened when.
Then I add plot points and time references and come up with character peculiarities.
Sometimes they just flow as I type, sometimes a particular something will pop up at a random time, but when I walk or pace it starts flowing the way I need it to be.
I could never pace and think of poems, absolutely never, neither would I come up with story ideas, but the detailing and the plotting and the story flow almost always come with deliberate pacing.
But I need to shut everything out.
No music, no sounds or noise, just me and my thoughts and the shuffling of my feet on the floor as the only background babel.
We all have a different madness to our method and whatever works as they say. Some people just stare at the screen, some watch porn, some listen to music and I pace.
