Some listens

'Sinister magic' written by Lindsay Buroker is an audiobook YouTube recommended to me after I wrote about mistborn finishing and looking forward to the next fix.

The thumbnail mentioned it's an urban fantasy!

Like Dresden I thought and since it's not too long, only about 9 hours I thought why not?
I'm guessing it'll take that much time for my files to download because the seeders are few and so I began listening and it didn't disappoint.
One hour into the book and it seems interesting in a fast paced adventure kind of way which doesn't need much interaction of your grey cells with the happenings.
The protagonist is a half elven woman who hunts down 'magical beings' that commit murders and so far so good.
I like that unlike Dresden who takes pains to describe every woman's legs and bosom the protagonist in this case is a no nonsense warrior who usually only describes her quarry and her magical beings and charms that assist her.

I'm still to reach the point where the plot thickens and what not but as far as books of this genre go, which weirdly involved dragons and cellphones, Jeep's and magical swords I'd say it's not so bad.

Also serves as a great contrast to my late night reads which are a lot of academic papers written by Indian researchers on various topics pertaining to our core cultural issues.

All in all not bad I'd say.
