In my house,
four of them!
Two small
one medium
one slightly fat
yes they're all tabby
No, none is shabby
not only do they self groom
I comb them
wash them
clean them
and wipe
and constantly hold a broom
for there is fur
soft and cotton-like
fluffing about the house
collecting in corners
settling in drawers
on my bed
in my blouse
and they're hungry
always!
emptying their bowls
filling black holes
inside of them
can I touch, may I pet
could I be so bold
to linger around
their judgemental stare
and try to hold
their furry little body
while they threaten to disembody
showing their claws
their teeth and their snarl
tacitly I walk away
leaving them to their mood
quietly in the kitchen
silently preparing their food
and then I hear a purr
a soft body against my foot
a little paw on my leg
a gentle head bump
yes my darlings
I know you love me
and you know that I do
it's just us my babies
me and all of you
