Yesterday at my friend's house as I sat for a cup of coffee I realized how absolutely cluttered with stuff her entire house was. I mean this wasn't an epiphany since I've always known her place to have a lot of stuff but yesterday I actually looked around I noticed how the clutter mostly consisted of impracticable, bootless stuff, for her I mean.
Case in point a large machine with various shelves encased in a metal and glass body. That apparently was a machine that maintains a certain warm temperate to facilitate the rising of bread! Ok, but what is it doing in the house of a person who uses her oven as storage? 'I'd bought it because I thought I'll bake bread' she'd nonchalantly told me between sips of coffee.
The problem wasn't the machine but the space it absorbed on the platform that could be used to keep other usefult things. This was only the one gadget I mention because there were several other such futile cumbersome machines. Like a starch cooker because having a regular rice cooker wasn't enough. An ice-making machine, two things of Vitamix type blenders and a couple other besides specifically for making only smoothies. Everything looked stained, everything looked disused, everything looked like grime had begun to make it their home.
An open shelving system didn't help cuz I could see the totally unnecessary stuff piled up, everything looked about to bust a gut, the glasses were stacked precariously and only sheer good luck on their part kept them balanced right on the edge of the damn shelf.
I was breaking into a sweat just looking and not just this the other friend whose house I visited after was also cluttered. Albeit it was done differently but there's no denying that it was a total mess. Why despite having two bathrooms in the house only one was kept operational and that too the smaller one? Literally, everything from cleaning supplies to make up was crammed into the functioning bathroom and one sudden jerk in the wrong direction would have perfumes flying right inside the damn pot.
I mean dear Gods!
