Do you also look through the peephole before leaving the house to ascertain that you don't run into any neighbours so as to avoid making any small conversations or feeling awkward?
I feel like it gets so weird sometimes when I'm just standing by the door ready to leave and the neighbour is coming out with her dogs and I keep standing inside, keenly listening to diminishing voices until the coast is clear and no footsteps either going down or coming up are heard.
It's not that we aren't friendly, of course we are but it's just to avoid sudden clumsy greetings especially since these aren't planned like ringing doorbells and offering food.
So yes odd things we all do that aren't so odd and I'm sure my neighbour does too.
