Talking of movies: Ghost in the shell movie. It was made in 1995 and was the reason why Matrix ever came into existence. I mean come on, an excellent movie like Matrix that drove its inspiration from that singular most awesome cyber punk anime ever. The whole concept of jacking plugs into skull; where do you think Wachowski's got it from? From Ghost in the shell..I could sing its praises and stand upright on my head and still not do no justice.
There have been a number of posts on this blog regarding GHITS, and each time I've tried to explain just how unbelievably well made, well thought and perplexing this anime is.
Let me just explain what Ghost in the shell actually means.
Ghost meaning an inherent being, a consciousness, and shell being the mere body it inhabits. It's a time when bodies are made of cybernetic parts, when many or most of body is composed of synthetic bio parts while the only trace of tangible self is retained by consciousness, aka a ghost.
People are connected through a complex web interface called net and it is in fact so infinite in its possibilities that some have actually begin to live inside it. Imagine living inside an intangible existence of electronic waves and getting hacked while doing so. People's eyes get hacked, and does one need a reason more to immerse themselves in this super high tech crazy joyride of the darkest most grim aspect of cyber punk that'd ever surface from any average human mind.
These are workings of genius brains and we can only pay homage to such stupendous creations by watching these masterpieces.
