I won't be lying if I were to say that I look forward to a still lingering winter chill because by the heavens as extraordinary as this place was it was humid and I leaked like a cold bottle.
There were times when I refused to budge and leave the premises of air conditioned restaurants because I'm not loathe to confess that there were a few moments when I thought I'd drop down, plop on the road in a puddle of sweat.
Borneo is more humid than a Hamam on its warmest most populated day.
No, heat ain't a problem. I mean bring on the sun but please leave humidity out of equation.
Dry heat! Now that's what I'm alright with but include moisture into the air and watch me drip into my shoes.
Speaking of shoes I am glad this small coastal town had little to offer in terms of shopping because I might have indulged.
Would I recommend Borneo?
Yes! Indeed, though as much as I love diving and checking out coral reefs the corals here were mostly oxidised and so if you're asked to jump off the boat and snorkel I'd advise to just stick to swimming instead and be wary of jelly fish because there were times I found my limbs covered with them seeing how I jumped right in the middle of a passing school which thankfully wasn't too large and the jellies in question were only as large as my palm but even so.
Did I suffer any apart from the obvious humidity?
No!
I did come across a snake but it was a silent garden variety that offered no threat.
I did however find bits of me sunburnt which now itch and burn and I will remedy it soon with some aloe Vera gel but apart from that I'm almost alright.
Dead and salty yes.
My hair in desperate need of luxurious wash and thick conditioning and oiling but all in all everything turned out pretty great.
