Pox daisy

Here I am, early this morning, readying for the day because I am babysitting a fifth grader today.
His parents who are also dear friends are visiting a town nearby for work and one could ask why a child on a weekday hasn't gone to school and I'd have wondered the same had I not known that the fifth grade of his school has declared a holiday for all its students that is to say all the fifth graders and the reason for this sudden holiday is chickenpox.
Turns out almost a dozen kids in his class have contracted the pox and I wonder why this is still an issue?
I remember getting chicken pox as a child and also remember some years later my brother getting vaccinated for the same and he never suffered those few tumultuous days full of agonising need to scratch and so I wonder why kids aren't being vaccinated for it, not that it's that big a deal but still it's seriously contagious and isn't it better to get them as a child than suffer the pains as an adult as I've seen some friends do in much later parts of their lives with high fever and itchy bodies.

There ain't much in my memory cache regarding this issue because as I said it happened when I was still a foetus but it was surprising to know about it so many years later.
I'd almost forgotten that something like this still exists and it somehow warmed my heart to know that kids are still suffering.

Right then, babysitting or more like child minding and I do not look forward to it but thankfully he's not the annoying kinds and for that I'm glad but having a kid that age means they're always hungry and I have prepared myself for every such contingency.

The menu today is chicken rice for lunch, pancakes for evening and tortilla chips for snacks and maybe I'll do some more digging in this whole chicken pox fiasco.
